    MB New Ag Minister

Well we have more proof that the NDP government has not desire to help MB Farmers. Stan Struthers is the new ag minister. He's notorious (as Conservation Minister) of bringing in some of the toughest and finger pointing legislation in to hurt normal farming operations in MB. His morotoriums on hog production will also affect cattle production as we know it.

He might be from a rural area, but his track record doesn't make him (or his government) one that will work with the farmers of Manitoba

And guess what? Rosie is the finance minister! What a joke that is.

When I heard the news, I got a sick feeling in my stomach. This could be bad, really bad.

This is the driving force behind the hog moratorium. That pretty much says it all. If we think we've got regulations now, I can only imagine what we've got to look forward to. We'll probably need permits before we can walk out the back door in the morning.

It's a sad day for rural Manitoba.

        Correction.... an idiot. LOL

He's all over the news today all about asking what he can do for farmers. This guy's got a tough road ahead to get anyone outside the perimeter to trust him. There's so much history to live down.

We're going to need a lot of substantial proof before we'll even consider taking anything the NDP government says it's going to do seriously.

I new Stan when his father passed on. He tried farming his land without much success. I believe there a people in this world that are put on this earth to do the job we all do he was not one of them. It is amazes me how a person who couldn't stick it out for a few years in this idustry will now be setting policy for the rest of us who work hard and put up with alot of ship. Especially in years like this. I believe when you enter politics you have to sell abit of your soul. I think that is what he did when he moved to commyville(Dauphin) to run for the NDP. I believe his father and grandfather would strongly disagree with his decision to do that. I also wonder how many more of his decisions will involve selling his soul in an industry his father and grandfather enjoyed being a part of. Hopefully he actually talks to some young farmers who wear a different politic stripe.

Anybody know when the next election is due? I've never seen such a long long string of "This has to be as bad as it gets" events that were not as bad as it gets yet.

When we heard the news report about this, we both looked at each other over the kitchen table, and tried to imagine the opinions at our neighbour the hog producer's table. I can just imagine what they had to say!

Boy, I sure hope we're wrong on this one.......
