All of the hype of JAN 1 deadline that
Bar Code tags will longer be honoured
and now you have to have RFID buttons
only. I knew this last week already
that now CFIA is going to keep honouring
the Bar codes into 2010.
IF you remove the Bar code you loose all
the traceability. Look at all the work
ranchers did this fall during preg-
checking and other. Many had to make a
decision with the delemma:
1)YOu cannot remove a Bar Code Tag
because it is illegal.
2)YOU CANNOT LEAVE TWO ID TAGS IN ONE
COW THAT IS ILLEGal---RFID and BAR CODE
tag in same animal.
Some producers spent the $$$ and did put
RFID tags in the cows.
Now the well advertised Jan 1 2010
deadline is no longer a deadline. CFIA
is honouring the Bar Cod tags in their
animals.
