    Nailed it!!

Hats off to the ex-rancher from Trochu in Lee Hart's article for stating what so many of us are feeling
"I would love to know if we have regained any lost markets because of our approach to specified risk material. At least the regulators can wrap themselves in our flag, run around and beat their chests saying look what we have done. Kiss my ass. I want to see something that puts money in people's pockets, not a cost borne by the producers."
Another good point from the rancher at Youngstown
"The enhanced feed ban has been a useless and expensive mistake"
Keep asking producers Lee and they'll definitely give you their opinions

Whats it been now- 4-5-6 years since several of the smaller Packers like Creekstone said they were lined up to BSE test ALL- and ship to the Asian markets- which would even pay the cost...

But government of both countries- bowed to the multinationals/AMI/NCBA/ABP/CCA/etal- and said it wouldn't be fair to those corporates- and wouldn't allow the testing/tested market to move forward...

Just a few months ago there was a Japanese firm that was willing to invest in a packer but thanks to the good folks at CFIA, they still wouldn't allow individual testing at the packing plant

Amazing how long it has taken for the results to be acknowledged. Do the bureaucrats and politicians think we are fools? Oops, I guess we know the answer to that!
BSE was a chicken little deal. They originally predicted 200,000 deaths a year from it. It maxed out at 7 about the turn of the century and has declined since, The Brits ate hundreds of thousands of infected cattle. The sky never fell. People stopped paying attention to all the drama queens that like to get up in front of the camera and make some insignificant announcement.
This "swine flu" is the latest example of a bunch of drama queens causing public panic about nothing. Now they have to convince everyone they stopped it by vaccinating 40% of the population. Try vaccinating 40% of your calves when you have a pandemic.
Sorry for the rant, but I don't think I can take to much more expert help. All it seems to accomplish is to lessen competition.
