I have no experience with this but Garsts' down in the States do it on a large scale or at least they used too. They fed the aftermath of their corn harvest. About 600 hundred cows, I believe.
Further to this...it costs in the neighborhood of $1/pr. to pasture a cow based on $30/month/pr. That was not an uncommon cost in my area in this drought year. Can you feed a cow for a buck a day? Well maybe!? Silage can make it happen, maybe? Depends entirely on your costs! What, if anything, do you want to get paid, for your time? If it's nothing, then go for it. You'll make a buck, even though you'd be better off working at a job.
