    Very funny HP.

"If the CCIA has a major role in disease containment I fear that the response to hurricane Katrina will look stellar. It might actually be comical...

I've often wondered how CFIA does their animal tracking and I'm pretty sure that their staff have better analytical giftings than I have. I would comment that without electronic tracking, their methods would be much more comical than they are now being that we have individual animal id tracing. :-)

I totally agree with your comment about paying into the tax system and getting good value from it. Certainly its far from good enough but it is a pile better than most other countries. I don't pay any more than I absolutely need to but that which I do pay, eventually comes around back to benefit me and my community.

Your comment around the system trusting us to be truthful has always intriqued me as well. All of us including the international community have placed a pile of trust around this premise that the grass routes producer is honest. Certainly audits do support honesty, but the basis of the system is based on the majority of us recording truthfully. That is a huge statement for us from society and in my opinion should be honored.

Interedting that you describe it as getting more civilized GF. That has been my description of pointless paperwork and the neverending parade of inspectors coming around and leaving you a bill for inspections.
Your example of the USA is a good one, as they have big problems with de-industrilization right now. Thase inspectors have nothing to inspect.
I sure hope the cattle buisness doesn't get to civilized. The reason I was attracted to it in the first place was it independece it provided.
This is a great country we live in. Maybe the best in the world. But between getting "safe" and gstting "Civilzed" the day is soon coming where we look back and realize the best days are behind us.
