A friend of my wife's on Facebook said her bale shredder plugged up 5 times the other day??? I have also heard from a neighbour they had a shredder that plugged up and they used to use a loader to push the bale down and in sometimes. If this a common problem?? My shredder eats bales anyway you put them in sideways on an angle you name it. Also when I used to sell parts we used to stock and sell several different kinds of hammers. I have never replaced one on my highline 8100 A cylinder was pitted and nearly all the hoses leaked but warrenty changed both cylinder and all the hoses so I am happy.

My haybuster will plug when the snow is sticky from a chinook. At saying that I like the bunk feeding control over my families highline. Both types of shredders have their pros and cons.Have used haybuster for the last 20 years so have learned all about the kinks.

I have an old REM and it plugs pretty easy - but it is easy to clear as it's just a horizontal table with the beater bar at one side. It also has the other side come down (meant for loading square bales) so you can easily get rid of a frozen core if need be. A lot easier to empty than a deep tub type. Like Per I don't use mine much apart from bedding a little if we get a storm around calving and I'm pushed for time.
