Open up any farm paper and you will be amazed at the number of bull sales and private treaty bull sales on offer! It seems like there are more and more every year. Sometimes it seems every man and his dog are in the bull business! Now we've just come through a pretty ugly drought here in western Canada and you just know a lot of cows went to slaughter. Also a whole lot of heifers went into the feedlot. I would suspect,in the drought area, we are down about 25%. Now if it comes up dry again(and it sure looks that way!) there are going to be a lot more cows gone.
My question is where are all these bulls going to find a home? Considering supply and demand, will the price drop for bulls this year? The old purebred game can be pretty fickle...boom or bust big time!
