Just introducing ourselves. Our group is composed of farmers and ranchers (approx. 1700) and was set up to inform landowners on their property rights, how to negotiate fair contracts for surface leases/pipeline right of ways/annual lease rental reviews, how to protect your liability issues in a contract. We are a totally volunteer non profit society.
Unfortunately we have been forced to spend a disproportionate amount of time opposing the recent government land grab bills (19/36/50/24)!
There are fundamental changes coming that will affect your ability to continue farming/ranching in Alberta. Proposed changes to well spacing regulations, a new "one shop" regulatory framework, increased developement setbacks around abandoned wells, and new water laws, will affect your operation (probably not in a good way)!
We also touch on things like the BSE gong show, gun control, and hunting regulations.
