    Pharo cattle genetics

I am looking for information and comments from
anyone WHO HAS USED or IS USING Pharo genetics
here in Western Canada. I am considering purchasing a
    small herd in the 2012.

I've used a couple bulls through AI (Magua & Johnny B Good) and know a couple others that have as well.

I have been happy with the cattle to this point, but they are still young. The first Magua daughters calved this spring, nice little cows and very good mothers without being agressive towards people. The Johnny B Good calves are much more consistent in type and size than the Maguas. They also show more muscle expression, and as a group I like them better, but I just weaned them this fall.

We run our young cattle tougher than most, but not as tough as Kit. I have found that our Magua cattle were no smaller than the others that we were breeding. In fact I used a home rasied 5 frame bull that was more consistent in type and frame reduction than Magua. The Johnny calves will definitely be smaller, but have tons of muscle and volume. But again we have other bulls that will moderate frame as good or better.

We have some young Pinebank 14'02 cows the same age as the Magua cows, and they are also more consisent in type, but the PB calves we had were not as attractive to look at, especially the bulls. Flatter made than I like, but the females are very feminine and have some capacity. I think they will be better females than the Maguas.
