What brands do you guys prefer and is aluminum worth the extra price? Custom hiring getting too expensive for neighbor, not that custom rate is too high, so he is considering buying a bigger unit 24ft maybe even 30ft and do his own hauling. See alot more aluminum going down the road, so just wondering your thoughts on what is better?

I should be buying a trailer also, my local
truckers rates have gone WAY up. Plus then my
purchased cattle don't sit paying high daily mart
fees.
I would lean to aluminum, it can be welded, not
gunna need as much clean out attention, the fuel
saving for my longer haul. I guess thats the
question.
How far is one typical load in your case?

He hauls about 2 hours away roughly. Seems to be less guys doing it so getting tougher to schedule etc. He really isn't complaining about the custom guys rates because the costs of everything going up for everyone they cannot do it for nothing, just that as the rates go up it makes doing it by yourself more viable. Alot of the trucking costs for everything seems to have gone up because everyone says either I make it here or I go to the oilfield and make more there so oil is having an effect everywhere at least imho.
As far as the cracking of the aluminum is that a common thing or more by brand etc. That must be a bit more dicey to repair I would think or not?
Would a guy need a 1 ton truck for a 24 ft or not, he has a 3/4 ton?

Gotta agree with you there BTO. Much safer too,
bumper pull trailers scare the hell out of
me...seen too many accidents....hit a bump at
high speed front end lifts up...no steering big time
no control. Also with goose necks loaded you
lights are always tipped up to high.
KENWORTH!!!
