Dumb heifer dropped her newborn right into the
one and only wet spot on our calving pasture.
With the new quad and power steering my little
girls doing a pen check spotted it and came and
got me. I could barely make it in there and out so
got her to drive the quad up (love mud bog tires)
to the calf and threw him on the front rack and
she hauled him out. This was an old dug out we
filled in and he only had one nostril sticking out
of the mud. Totally exhausted we wiped the mud
off him tubed him a little bit of colostrum, next
day milked out the mother what we could add v
lites and got him on his feet. Got him sucking a
bottle now his mother eventually. Problem is I
think he has a collapsed lung or something as he
breathing is labored and sounds like he has a
bad cold. Not a lively guy, gave him some brown
penicillin. Thanks
