15444 - I am not sure what the provincial government has to do with ALUS? We are part of an ALUS (Alternative
Land Use Services) pilot project that is definitely not government supported, other than contributions from
our local County. Control is local and projects are approved through a local board made of expertise and
    local producers.
The whole issue of EG&S and finding/developing a marketplace is basically a proactive race against costly
    regulation as I see it.
As far as Crown Leases and access to Cows and Fish, etc. We do a lot of work with many of these groups
including CnF, PFRA, etc. and all of it is pretty well all done on privately owned or even rented land. As an
example, I am sure if you contact CnF or DU or Delta Waterfowl or others with a positive idea they will either
work with you or help you out in some way. I know all the environmental agencies/groups are dealing with
limited resources so a group approach is even better (you and several neighbours getting together to develop
projects in an area. I know these groups work on a variety of projects ranging from range assessment to
community education projects. A list of groups willing to work with producers (and actively seeking engaged
interaction) would fill another post. I think the first step in the EG&S challenge is being willing to
    engage.

Sean, I am just assuming that the province is involved with it. I don't have time to keep up to date with regulations in other provinces. All I am drawing upon is the 'Coles-Notes' version I read on here.

15444 I thought maybe you had a Freudian acronym slip and were referring to ALSA not ALUS. The Internet is a grand tool and a great place to get you philosophy out but further research into some of the Cole's version needs to happen sometimes. And yes RSL I spent a considerable amount of effort looking into ALUS because of you. That goes to your point that we need to engage in the conversation and by you bringing this forward many have had a look at it. That is a good thing for sure.

ASRG Its not that I have a problem with lease holders its the fact I help pay those fees because the current fee schedule dosent even pay the paperwork.PrivaTE LEASE $1 PER DAY CROWN LEASE $.7CENTS PER DAY dosnt seem quite right does it. Surly the govmt could get a better price for said land. After all it still belongs to the public.
Hell lets put her up for open bids every term(ten yrs)

Horse: As I stated earlier I don't own any grazing leases.
I guess the question is, would I like Encana or some other multi national to own that lease, rather than a farmer or rancher?

Uh..........no! Why do you want to side with that kind of scum? They would **** the hell out of the land because, quite frankly they just don't care one whit (sp?).......other than the bottom line!
How about someone who actually cares about the land?
Why are you so jealous because someone who might actually care about the land, might get a few extra bucks?
Instead of being so concerned if your neighbor is getting a pittance you should be concerned if a bunch of foreign scumbags are getting BILLIONS?

Horse - leases come available for sale
every day. If you go to Public lands you
can bid on a lease just like every other
              member of the public.

per - your Tyler quote is simply chilling by reason of it's accuracy.

We are well along that road in Canada with even so-called "Conservative" governments being that in name only.

Even though the biggest beneficiaries of socialist practices realize that their tastes are unaffordable, they will continue to suck that teat until it runs dry.
