15444 - I am not sure what the provincial government has to do with ALUS? We are part of an ALUS (Alternative
Land Use Services) pilot project that is definitely not government supported, other than contributions from
our local County. Control is local and projects are approved through a local board made of expertise and
local producers.
The whole issue of EG&S and finding/developing a marketplace is basically a proactive race against costly
regulation as I see it.
As far as Crown Leases and access to Cows and Fish, etc. We do a lot of work with many of these groups
including CnF, PFRA, etc. and all of it is pretty well all done on privately owned or even rented land. As an
example, I am sure if you contact CnF or DU or Delta Waterfowl or others with a positive idea they will either
work with you or help you out in some way. I know all the environmental agencies/groups are dealing with
limited resources so a group approach is even better (you and several neighbours getting together to develop
projects in an area. I know these groups work on a variety of projects ranging from range assessment to
community education projects. A list of groups willing to work with producers (and actively seeking engaged
interaction) would fill another post. I think the first step in the EG&S challenge is being willing to
engage.
