The real sad part is even after the US had decertified the XL plant the CFIA continued to let XL sell beef to Canadians stores! Maybe they wanted to get the coolers cleaned out before they shut down or something!
Something isn't quite right here....the meat isn't good enough for the American consumer.....but it's okay to feed to Canadians? What's with that?
Shouldn't the CFIA protect Canadian consumers as well as the Americans do for their citizens?

ASRG - "Shouldn't the CFIA protect Canadian consumers as well..."

Yeah, the way they protected the Canadian cattle herd from BSE!

      Oh wait -

Hey, what, exactly, are they doing?

Burnt - I know you know the answer to your own question.

Their a marketing arm for the American beef industry "stakeholders", the multi-national packers. I'm surprised no-one is talking "conspiracy".
It would not surprise me even a little to see someone on the inside paid a bunch to sabotage the place.
It would not be the first time.
Look at who the benefactors are.

My question is: What test did the USA border patrol use to detect the ecoli, while still being able to contain the entire shipment [meaning they had some sort of "fast-test" for ecoli, other than culturing for days]... if they have a fast-test, why are the slaughter-plants not using it?
