It's done now. Mr. Ritz did not come out looking so good in the commentaries that came afterward.

Here's the link to the emergency debate written up in Hansard.. You'll find it about 2/3 of the way down the page.

Very informative - I was impressed by the knowledge
and information the opposition MPs showed in
            challenging the Government. Particularly enlightening
was the blow by blow summary of the events by
Malcolm Allen at 2020 - 2035 in the notes.

In future, never ever, ever knowingly
buy any product from XL. This will
teach them a lesson. Ya can't hide from
the consumer. XL kin eat their own sh t
from now on, as far as our family is
concerned. Ask your butcher, or slimey
              retail meat salesperson, manager, where
the hell they get their over priced,
dirty beef from, then buy based on what
they spew out at ya. Its yer money, and
yer family that is being fed this sh t.
As far as gobermond and CFIA, theys have
              no, no, no, credibility whatsoever,
since this scandal broke. Cargill meat
all the way from now on, er the local
yokel mom and pop shop that live in our
              community. Screw the chain store
              slop.....

"On September 13, the CFIA removed XL Foods from the list of establishments eligible to export to the U.S. What happened to us? If the stuff was not good enough to send to the U.S., why was it good enough for Canadians?"
                (2025 - 3rd paragraph)

Now that is one #$%^ of a good question.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

                Thanks Kato

Whatever happened to labelling? Maple Leaf had a labelled product to defend.
XL doesn't - therein lies the problem.
No wonder we haven't heard from them - they don't have a label to defend.
