Grasshoppers

I heard a story the other day about dead cows full of grasshoppers and it reminded me of something I heard years ago. I was taking an A.I. course at Olds and one of the guys was from Bozeman, Montana. He had a custom haying outfit and he said the grasshoppers were plentiful the summer before. Said the bales smelled really bad from all the grasshoppers and the protein content was right off the map! He said the cows just loved this hay and were fat and shiny all winter!
