    seeding now?

If I were to seed some barley or oats or anything now, would I get enough growth before freeze up to graze? Am contemplating doing this if I could pay for my time and seed.

If you are getting any rain at all you could sow fall rye. This is a long ago proven solution to fall grazing as well as early spring.

Or winter triticale. That's what we're planning to do, you can graze it this fall,(hopefully, if it rains), silage it early the next year & still put in a barley crop for silage.

If you plan to seed anything this fall you better have good moisture and few grasshoppers, we seeded fall tritacle last year and fought hoppers for two months and then the drought finish it off.
