    Meeting on Cattle Feeding Alternatives in AAFRD

    Attached is a meeting Alta. Ag. and the Alberta Cattle Commission will be sponsoring a series of meeting later this month on alternative feed strategies. Mostly centred on cow calf but it would be good to have grain producers there as well (realizing this is in the middle of harvest). The below is the locations, dates and topics.

    Utilizing High Grain Diets to Winter Beef Cattle


    A series of three hour meetings sponsored by Alberta Agriculture, Food and Rural Development and the Alberta Cattle Commission

    Time and locations:

    Monday, Aug. 19 at 7:00 pm Three Hills Community Center

    Tuesday, Aug. 20 at 7:00 – 8:00 am Breakfast, Meeting starts at 8:00 am at Castor Community Hall.

    Tuesday, Aug. 20 at 7:00 pm Vermillion, Nilsson Brothers Inc. Auction Mart

    Wednesday, Aug.21 at 7:00-8:00am Breakfast, Meeting starts at 8:00 am at Westlock and District Community Hall

    Wednesday, Aug.21 at 7:00 pm New Serepta Agriplex.

    For all meeting you must Pre-register by 4:30 pm Friday August 16.Note: Space is. Limited, based on first come first serve. Please call the Alberta Ag-info Centre toll free at 1-866-882-7677. Specify which meeting location, your name, address and phone number, when you call. There is no charge.

    Beef Cattle Energy, Protein and Fiber requirements

    Feeding corn grain to feeder cattle, corn nutrition and digestive profile, rations

    Speakers include: Jim Calpas, Barry Robinson, Rod Carlyon, Christoph Weder, Charlie Pearson and the Alberta Cattle Commission addressing Industry Issues.

    If we're unable to make a meeting, will the information be posted somewhere? How much trouble would it be to post the information on this site, or Ropin' the Web?

    Will there be anything done in terms of the smaller ruminants like sheep? There are a good number of sheep and goat producers in this province that are faced with the same feeding dilemmas that cattle producers are, so information would be most helpful and welcome.
