    Wto ruling on cool in favour of canada and mexico.

    Anyone have any information, I saw sometime on twitter and could not find much information.

    A World Trade Organization (WTO) panel has sided with opponents of U.S. country-of-origin labeling law, according to a report by the Wall Street Journal, citing “sources familiar with the panel’s confidential report.”
    Canada and Mexico have asked for the World Trade Organization’s help against new U.S. COOL rules, which they say are more restrictive and harmful to beef cattle and pigs imported into the U.S. than an earlier version of the legislation that was found to violate WTO rules. Third parties in the dispute include Brazil, China, the European Union, India, Japan, Korea and New Zealand, Australia, Colombia, Guatemala and Mexico.
    “We all know what the report says. The U.S. lost,” one source told the WSJ.
    Another said, “We do for a fact know that the ruling, when it is made public, will be in favor of Canada and Mexico.”
    WTO rules give the United States 60 days to appeal from the date the report is published

        Some do. Some don't. On one side there are the protectionists, like our "friends" at Rcalf who make careers out of shutting borders ( going in, but not out) . On the other side are the big processors and feeders who can't get enough cattle, and have big money at stake.

        Nothing to do with the so called benefits of labeling and beef segregation, and everything to do with money. Money money money. That's what talks. That's what is going to decide their reaction to the ruling.

          I doubt only a few Americans ever hear of this WTO lost case.

          I think the big benefit is Canada can slap some duties on American beef and pork so they don't flood our domestic market depressing prices while COOL defends their own.

            Not quite sure what they are going to flood our market with given the US beef inventory and prices.
