Farm gating

I was interested to know how many cattle producers are marketing their own products. I see the diversified livestock industry has been forced to do this and have done a great job. These folks have just got tired of all the polotics and hassels with the industry leaders and those that have said they are going to help them and gone out and done it themselves. Most will admit they don't care for marketing much and it is time they really don't have but the alternatives are not even and option. Consider the bison guys being offered between 22 and 40 cents a pound for live animals and being able to seel their animal (farm gate style) for $2.75. What are the beef guys doing?

to successfully farmgate i think u have to provide an alternative to mainstream products-say grass finished beef perhaps,-it's no use trying to sell hamburger for a dollar more than costc0-consumers must perceive there is a reason foor premium
