    AB Energy Regulator

The AB Energy Regulator just removed a few more of your rights with changes to the process for pre-application "statements of concern".
Basically they are limiting the time frame in which affected landowners can object but look at the sneaky way it is written. I capitalized the key parts. I suspect it is like the federal seed saving legislation - taking away a right and they MAY grant you a privilege in its place.

"Effective immediately …. the AER will no longer accept statements of concern submitted before an application is received.
…..Some expedited applications may be approved before the AER receives a statement of concern. If this occurs, the AER MAY review the application to determine if the company has met all AER application requirements, including notification requirements. If the AER determines that the applicant has failed to comply with AER requirements, the AER MAY initiate enforcement action. You MAY also be able to request a regulatory appeal under section 38 of the Responsible Energy Development Act.

….If the statement of concern fails to demonstrate that the person may be directly and adversely affected by the application, is not filed within the timeline specified, is unrelated to the specific application, IS RELATED TO AN APPLICATION ON WHICH A DECISION HAS ALREADY BEEN MADE .... the AER will notify the person that the statement of concern will not be considered."

Have you moved to MB yet, so you can get some fresh bitching and moaning in with a new province?

Rather ignorant and uncalled for remarks from someone who hasn't experienced the assault on property rights in AB by the oil and gas sector.
I'm glad I'm not moving to your part of Ontario if you are representative of the inhabitants.

Oh I am happy, happy, happy that you didn't come any further east as well. There are enough whiners around here that sit on a pedastal and do nothing to further their convictions.

Grassfarmer speaks the truth here. A bit too depressing for the rest of us to comment but for sure it was not taken a bitching and moaning, more along the lines of reminding.

Per, I refer to his CONTINUAL posts and threads referring to this issue, with articles and personal thoughts, as though it is going to change the world. No different than Saskfarmer and his continual crying in the commodity forum, yet he is still farming, even though everyone is trying to screw him out of a living and that everything would be so much better if he just quit and went on sunny vacations.

It really pisses me off when otherwise interesting and informative threads are high-jacked with this (what has become trivial-by-repetition) shit. Reminds me of liberal posters on CBC's comment pages, where everything bad that happens in the world is Harper's fault.

Well excuse me but this was a thread that I posted so who hijacked it?

I start a number of threads on a wide variety of subjects as do a handful of other regular posters. I like to think we generate discussion, thought and debate, not only amongst the people who post here but the many who read and rarely, if ever, post. Discussion is a good thing - it strengthens society and democracy.

If you disagree with a person's position you are free to state the opposing case, if a topic doesn't interest you move on - but don't ever try and censor who is allowed to post and what the content is. You don't have that right to curtail other's freedom of speech.
