    CANARY SEED STRAW

Would anyone know if this will make good feed for cattle. We have three quarters of it left to combine and am wondering if it pays to bale it.

I know some guys in our country that have fed it, they seem to like it.

I baled it last year to use as bedding but the cows ate it instead. They prefered eating it over my barley and oat straw.

We did use it for bedding but used the processor for the best results.

Can anybody tell me how the palatability of the straw is after a year? I have 600 acres of good straw that would make the basis for a straw/concentrate ration for next year if the straw keeps well.

We have fed canary seed straw before and the cows like it, keeping straw over a year does not hurt it much just don't stack it in pyramid style or you could get some spoilage.
