Nilson Bros Clyde Bred cow sale

Went to there sale today, neighbour was told bred cows bringing $900/$1200. They decided to haul them back home after bred cow were selling for $650/$750 range. To be fair I did see very young herd dispersal red angus cattle sell at the $1100 range. Can't trust what auction fieldmen say. I once had calves sell for 50 cents less than the low price that was printed in the paper and on the internet the next day. When I called the auction market manager he said "Well it's a marketing tool" that means they feel they need to lie to get the cattle in. Not happy.

I certainly can't blame you for not being happy. I also wondered how these numbers were generated as I have had neighbors selling cattle that we also claimed to bring above or below these numbers (range). Are they really lying?! or is there something I am missing?

I was once told by an owner of an auction barn that if you owned an auction barn and couldn't make money you had to be stupid. I use to rep cattle, and have seen on Satalite the same cattle sold and re-sold long after they were slaughtered. I asked one our oldest marketing state's men to point me in the direction of a mart with integrity and he said he couldn't. No I don't think selling cattle at the marts is marketing cattle atall. There's more games and bids comming out of the rafters than one would believe.

I sold all of my cattle this fall. The distress situation with the drought and all supplied the (so called) market with a wonderful opportunity to rip us off royally. I have heard tales from former auction-mart employees of the shenanigans that go on there. It is a game that they play. You might win sometimes but in the end you lose.
You do the selling but THEY do the marketing.
Too bad most of the producer owned marts went broke or were bought up by the scheisters.
