    Beef Production

I have just purchased 5 bred black angus hiefers and have no previos experiece in the cattle business. Lots of sheep experience though. I am just looking for advice that people may have for a new comer to the industry. Especially on keeping costs low and how to avoid problems others may have encountered when they started out. thanks

You already started on the right foot with your purchase. Just do like the rest of us - lots of reading, hang onto that cow's tail, and keep your eyes and open, your teeth gritted, and your mouth closed

Another little tidbit - Just watch how the good Lord runs His ranch. The deer, elk, moose etc. calve and breed when the rations are right. If ya mess with nature it's going ta cost ya.

One thing I can say is you'll be pleasantly surprised how cattle, particularly angus, are FAR more self-reliant than sheep! For the most part, let `em do their thing within reason, and the fact you're asking questions here will bode well for your future! As I've found, there are many fine helpful gentlemen and ladies here with a wealth of wisdom and experience free for the asking! Good luck!
