I am glad to see how many beef industry participants are interested in working in a new system. Not surprising most want to know the bottom line and what can be done to improve it.
As I have discussed before the verifiable trace back system is one of many tools that will help build a better foundation for you. As this system is expanded there are many more benefits to it then one can imagine, but this is down the road a little.
I have found that the big advantage for you the producer is the ability to network with industry participants. We have been contacted by individuals and companies from around the world all with ideas and a wiliness to participate in some way. There are some increadable people in this industry and a lot of new technologies and ideas out there.
The guys on the front line are showing me how innovative they really can be even in a system that is not as user friendly as it used to be. The beef industry has a lot of diversification in it today, both in terms of cattle types and methods of doing business. Already we have had suggestions and input from breeders, grounders, feedlots, marketers, retails and consumer groups as well as people that service these people.
Seems as if the will to find a better system is out there and things are moving ahead! (Never as fast as we like to see)
