    Alberta Surface Rights Group AGM

Tonight Feb 19/13 at the Innisfail Legion. 7PM.
Going to be a short presentation on Bill 2, the Responsible Energy Development Act.
It is unfortunate that very few seem to understand just how bad this legislation is. As Justice Russell Brown has said it basically abolishes fundamental property rights.
Looking ahead: The Alberta government has indicated it will be introducing "amendments" to the Surface Rights Act during the spring legislature session. The speculation is the New Alberta Regulator (Bill 2) will set prices for compensation. Instead of negotiating a price with an energy company, a price will be mandated by regulation and it can not be challenged.
Hmmmmm.....I wonder if this means more money? LOL

What it means is that you will LOSE your right to negotiate ANY and ALL compensation for ANY process the energy companies wish to throw at you.

You DON'T MATTER...just another bump in the road to be smoothed out so that business becomes more efficient AND profitable.

This government is becoming more FASCIST every year.

wilagro - it is designed to keep the
royalties flowing (oh wait, we won't raise
      those either).
It is designed to encourage jobs and
growth and places to have patronage
      appointments after politics. Yeah, that
      must be it.

In December, the Responsible Energy Development Act was passed, which creates a single regulator for oil, gas, oil sands and coal projects in the province. Consultations about the regulations under this new Act are now underway.

How would you want to be notified about an energy project near your community? What factors should the Alberta Energy Regulator consider when it makes decisions? What kinds of applications should go to a hearing?

You’re invited to share your thoughts that will help build the rules and regulations for the new Alberta Energy Regulator. There are 18 sessions scheduled across the province:
