GF, you're like a candle in the wind.

You are right, all I know about you is what you write here on these boards. Well, that and what life experience has shown a few others, I guess,

But just what you have written here, including your post just above, shows that you say one thing and will do another.

The only honorable thing for you to do is sign off on the class action, just like the Amish and Mennonites have in order to be true to their principles.

Do you have enough principle to sign off? Or will you accept the cheque when/if it comes? I think we know that you will accept the cheque if you refuse to sign off.

The least you could do is just be principled enough to keep your mouth shut about something that you have no interest in. If nothing else, that way you would at least not be insulting the honest efforts of those who have gone to bat for the industry.

But maybe you would rather be the sneaky kid who, from behind a bush, likes to throw stones at passing cars.

I have no need to admit that I'm wrong about something when I know I'm not.

Yeah, and you prove you are a bullshitter again Burnt.
I explained about not signing out of something I
never signed onto in the first place and what I'd do
with any resulting money sent my way. You chose to
ignore that and you chose to ignore the the request
for proof of the "subsidized" premium program.
Nothing to back up your claims - as usual.

Grassfarmer, every time you fail to clear yourself from the charge of utter hypocrisy by not affirming that you will sign off of the class action, you only manage to prove that I am right.

You know how class actions work - I gave the example of my Mennonite cousins as how one matches principles with words. I'll give them that much anyway. So either sign off or shut up.

You are like the hockey player that sits by the net waiting for an easy scoring chance without working for it.

So go ahead, sit there on your grassy knoll, sniping at those who are trying to bring a degree of accountability into the system.

        You know what you are.

And when you tell us that you have signed off, then I will tell you how you insurance program is subsidized. Until then, you don't show the integrity to understand anything as complex as insurance schemes.

What a sanctimonious little jackass you are. Who
gave you the position of judge and jury over the
          human race?

Unlike grassfarmer, I believe the government does owe me that money. Their job was to protect the safety of our beef. They dropped the ball and we all paid for it!
I never signed up for the class action suit either but I sure do support it, because I do believe the government is responsible. And if I get the money I sure will spend it! I might very well spend some of it on political/property rights stuff.....anything that might keep these skunks accountable!
You might say I don't like the corporate owned government......I think they are evil and everytime I can stick it to them I will.

No - that's just a lie Burnt is promoting for some
                  reason.
                  From the AFSC website:

                  "Frequently Asked Questions

                  Q. Will CPIP premiums be subsidized by the federal or
provincial government like crop insurance premiums
                  are?
                  A. No, CPIP premiums are not subsidized at this time
to avoid any negative trade action against the
                  Canadian beef industry.

                  CPIP - The Basics

Voluntary: Premiums are producer funded and
                  producers can choose to participate."

I had a quick look at the calf program when it first came out last year and thought it was predicting pretty low prices (I believe the based it on a 600 lb steer calf/a sliding scale). If I remember right the CPIP guaranteed price was $1.32/lb- I think delivery between Oct 15-Dec 1st.
I can't remember what the premium was, but I didn't think it made any kind of sense...unless there was a major meltdown in the market.

Premiums may not be subsidized, but how the hell is a program like this going to function with premiums like those GF has presented to us. Impossible. One payout would break the bank from one feedlot. Not to mention the administration costs that ARE subsidized by government money, and susally equal or better any farmer cheque.

As I said and I stand by it. This and any other government / ABP/ CCA innitiative is simply to distract producers from thinking for themselves and con them into participating in the conventional beef game. A game that allows everyone involved to shift liability around and never be truly responsible to the consumer of our beef.

When the class action finally pays out, I truly hope that ranchers use the dough to not only take back their industry, but take responsibility from ranch to plate themselves.

I totally understand the Look after me and my family first attitude, however, standing in front of housewives and mothers every single day would certainly be a challenge I would like to see every rancher experience. Tell them that you are trying with some of your cattle, and then tell them not to worry about the rest of the cattle that you feed the conventional system with that you are simply ONLY trying to make money off without any regard for the children in their wombs.
