Hey whats wrong with horse meat? I hear
its good for you. It will put a little
giddyup in your step. Seriously this is a
European butcher using unscrupulous
tactics to save money. Comes back to the
old addage an honest butcher would go
broke.

Well if you were paying attention you'd notice that
there is potential to lock in forward contracts on
yearling feeder cattle for the fall based on them being
contracted as fats at record high prices by the
feedlots that will ensure almost unprecedented
profitability for a grazing opportunity.
Record high prices are just around the corner due to
the inventory situation/US drought/grain prices. At
the moment you have a chance to lock in these high
prices either through contracting or if you don't have
the numbers for that in AB at least you can use the
new cattle price insurance program. I bought some
insurance last week on a group of steers I have
enough room to pasture until mid August and am
pretty sure they will net me $200 a head more than
selling them just now.

I'm not trapped anywhere Randy and this is NOT
subsidised insurance - it is paid for by the premiums
participants pay apparently.

Oh, the irony from the guys who are always whining
to the Government for money. Can't wait to criticize
someone who looks on the positive side and
proactively seeks to limit risk on the less than 25% of
my cattle I still sell into the commodity sector.
AFSC administers this program but it is self financing
off the premiums.

Which once again begs the question, Grassfarmer - when did you opt out of the class action?
Thank you for presenting the opportunity, once again, to clear up this question for good.
If you haven't opted out, please give us the exact date upon which you intend to do so.
Or just shut your mouth about whining for money.
Or on the other hand, surely you're not just a blathering hypocrite, are you? Bad-mouthing a quest for justice while hoping to fall into some benefits from said effort?
Please clear this question up for us, Grassfarmer.
Your participation in a subsidized price insurance program pretty well gives us the answer already.

Wait a minute.....Just because grassfarmer isn't the biggest fan of the class action law suit, does that mean we should be roasting him? What the hell....he ate the BSE loss just like everyone else?
There are lots of things I don't approve of........but I'm sure not dumb enough to not take advantage of them! How many of you guys who don't believe in public health care pull out the checkbook when you go to the doctor?
Personally I wish grassfarmer would really explain how he did this insurance deal and how he prices it out?

ASRG, I think you really do know better than to say that he "isn't the biggest fan of..."
If you do not see the mistake in that choice of words, just re-read this thread - pay close attention to the words he uses.
If you need more reasons for why he richly deserves to be roasted, go back and read the many times where he has belittled the efforts of others who are holding the government accountable for their actions - or lack thereof.
Grassfarmer is a classic example of someone who like to bad-mouth others for their efforts while pushing to the front of the lineup to benefit from their work.
He displays that rare admixture of arrogance and hypocrisy that makes him a nauseous, walking dichotomy.
So Grassfarmer, if you are going to continue to bash the class action, please do the right thing and delist yourself from it.
Or be content to wear your rightful label of "hypocrite".
ASRG, can I make it any clearer for you? You don't tolerate that kind of behavior from government - why would you make exceptions for one of our own?
