    Alberta budget and agriculture

The farm fuel distribution rebate of 6 cents/liter is gone.
Not sure if ALMA is gone or just reduced? Very hard to find out details in this budget.
During the spring election our ABP president wouldn't support our Wildrose candidate because one of the WR positions was to scrap ALMA....so I assume the ABP was on the ALMA tit?
The budget says the government will be focussing on research and innovation in agriculture....which usually means nothing, except some fat cat money for government cronies.

Typical PC government, long on rhetoric, short on fact.
      Ag highlights:
6 cent a litre rebate gone
      9 cent exemption stays
      ALMA 8 million reduction
Capital Fund for irrigation 5 million reduction
Ag ministry staff: 30 people cut, 3 in AFSC
      no cuts to research
      no cuts to market development
no cuts to rural development(like ag societies)

I wonder if Evan Berger will be one of the staff cuts?

Evan Berger - there's a memory I hope no one forgets, especially the cozy relationship between pcs and government on that hire.

            Thanks for that info Brian.
Is ALMA effective? Are they worth the money we spend on them?

Most of the staff losses are in Edmonton. The minister said they were mainly managerial positions and they were trying to reduce the layers of bureaucracy. Good move,I think. And yeah, Berger should go.

There are two positions that can go right now Evan Berger, and the new Land advocate, both are sucking on the hind tit of the taxpayer. I don't know who Evan caught in bed with who but you just cann't get rid of the old PC hacks.

Look at how much spin Allison is putting into
moving medivac to the international airport. Ya it'll
add an hour to your emergency medical care. Ya
it'll save money flying past the city centre airport
then flying or ambulance back to the city centre
hospital. She of coarse fails to mention stars is
not designed to be a taxi service. Fails to mention
medivac flights will have to wait for commercial
flights to land before the can. But hey Edmonton
                  needs more condo's

And who is your MLA Allfarmer? If you voted for him/her you are getting what you voted for?
Don't make the same mistake in 2016.

My guess is that your MLA is Frank Oberle Allfarmer. He has a forestry background and is a nice enough guy, he ought to pick up the phone when you call especially now that he has a little more time on his hands since loosing his cabinet post.

Frank Oberle is actually a very good guy. He's the
reason I couldn't vote wildrose last election so I
didnt bother voting last election. That and people
                        around here completely Conservative backers.

Frank needs to run as a wildrose candidate for
that I would write a chq.
