Would like suggestions on a simple format (either computer or paper) for keeping cattle records. This info would include date of calving, ease of calving, size of calf, etc. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

visit www.viewtrak.com see what you think
several systems are on the market to do this, we are also working on a total traceback system that provides feedback on the performance of animals once they are processed as meat products.
Once you visit the above site, how about sharing your thoughts with us on how you like it and if it has the info you want or is there other bits of info you would like to be able to record and use?

A neat little program is available from Format International Inc. which tracks calving, breeding, etc.
'Beef Cow Record Book' is FREE and has capacity for 300 calves.
The URL is www.format-international.com and will run on most Windows platforms including XP.

I have examined a lot of systems for cow calf record keeping and I don't think there is anything as good as Cow Sence for being complete and user friendly. If your looking for something hi-tech the www.cattlecare.cc has a program that gives you automated data colection, chute side decission making capabilities, proven international trace back tracking, and vertical integration of data with existing subscribing users along the life of the calves. Check it out.
