    Calving

I am in need of researching a condition that my new (1 day old, Saler) calf seems to have. Her air supply seems to be limited therefore is not able to nurse. My local Vet. seems to think that her windpipe was damaged during birth and possible fluid in her lungs. He gave her a shot to reduce the swelling and antibiotics. He advised me to bottle feed her yet was not successful due to her breathing capacity. I am very concerned and would like to see her make it yet do not want to see her suffer. Any info. would be greatly appreciated.

In response to your inquiry regarding your calf, I believe it may have under inflated lungs. From experience we have found the drug Flucort to be benefical in helping. Treat for 3 days and let mother nature take care of the rest. Good luck, hope this helps.
