constipated calf

Hi everyone,
We have a calf about 3 months old that's very badly constipated & going down. Does anyone have a remedy?

Check with your vet, obviously, but mineral oil may get things moving.

A few years ago we had a younger calf with the same problem, and we were in the midst of calving with bad weather.
When we called the vet, she said to give an enema with mineral oil. We live 30 miles from town so we did not want to spend the time away from calving so we used a piece of vacumn hose off one of our 1/2 tons, with a 35 cc syringe attached to do the job for a poor-mans enema. Worked well and the calf lived

GIVE THE COW A CHANGE OF DIET, LIKE A PAIL OF GRAIN, OR SALT IT WILL GO THROW HER INTO THE MILK AND GIVE THE CALF SCOURS. ALSO YOU COULD GIVE THE CALF SALT THIS SHOULD SCOUR THE CALF.
