    Bulls

I am still having calving troubles with the calves coming off of my heifer bull.100 pound calves out of heifers is no fun. What I am wondering is if anyone has encountered a bull that has thrown larger calves as he matured?I am getting scared to use him anymore and with breeding season coming I would like to get to the bottom of this.

No bull is 100% I'd say your breeding program is really working. The genetic make up of the bull and females in your herd is clicking. I'd keep the bull for your older cows, and get the pelvis area checked out on this years heifer that are to be breed and any that are to small get rid of them. They are not the bull daughters are they?

Thanks Alicia, that's what I was thinking too.I just hope it's not too hard to find a good bull at this time of year.

No the heifers are not the daughters of the bull. But they are sisters of the heifers I bred last year with good success. That's why I can't figure out the cause for the problems. The heifers to be bred this year are from a different home so I don't know whether to chance the bull one more time or not.

Do you have to many heifers to bred AI.
OR bred the sisters that had no trouble caving out to your bull and the rest AI if you are concered about using the bull on all of them.

A wise tail from my Dad

A fat cow will give you a small calf, every time But
A thin cow will give you a big calf every time
