All Opposition Parties Call for a Debate on the Evan Berger Patronage Appointment

The Wildrose, Liberal, and NDP opposition parties all called for a debate yesterday in the legislature on the pork barrel job for defeated PC candidate for Livingstone-Macleod.
The PC speaker denied the motion!

Mr. Berger was turfed by the voters in Livinstone-Macleod in the last election in favor of Wildrose MLA Pat Stier. In spite of clear rules preventing a former MLA from entering the civil service within a year of holding office, the Redford government created a new job for Mr. Berger, one with no job description or job competition!
Clearly a pork barrel position for a former ag minister looking for a soft landing! Mr. Berger has indicated he will be involved with his local PC constituency association and intends to run for the party in future elections!

The Alberta ethics commissioner Neil Wilkinson (Mr. Wilkinson is the former CEO of the scandal laden Capital Health Region) had granted an excemption for Mr. Berger's appointment saying Mr. Berger was part of the "government family"!
Many political pundits have opined this "government family" might be compared to the "Gambino family" or the "Lucchese family".....which are famous organized Mafia crime groups!

Well we have "Senators-in-waiting" in Alberta and now we have "MLAs-in-waiting". What a farcical and bazaar situation when the government of the day doesn't want to recognize the results of an election as being valid and gets their man back into government by what I consider to be subterfuge. If this was applied to even more ridings, what kind of democracy would we have?
