Bill 2..........Makes the Other Land Grab Bills Look Like a Joke!

Bill 2: an act to create a new "Alberta Regulator for Oil and GAS".
Sounds real good...cut out all the bureacratic BS, right?

Wait a minute! A totally independent corporation, not an agent of the government, with all the rights and privileges of an individual human?

An "enforced dispute resolution" on leases and right of ways? No more hearings. No more objections. No more Surface Rights Board. No more due process of law.

A "voluntary registration" of surface leases and pipeline right of ways to "enforce agreements". If you don't "volunteer" then you have no recourse but to go to court....good luck fighting EXXON! No assurances that your leases and ROW's will be kept private.....they could be shared among companies......a proven scheme to drive down compensation!

This bill is the oil companies wet dream come true....brought to you by your friendly Redford PC government!

With all this going on and the Legislature in Session, why is the Deputy Premier of Alberta in Israel?

This bill is starting to get some attention. I've been getting quite a few calls.
CAEPLA is very much aware of how bad it is and Keith Wilson is quite concerned.
As usual the government springs this on people in the legislature, and rams it through as fast as they can! CAPP and SEPAC came out right away and said it looks good.....well DUH....seeing as how they wrote it, I guess it would look good!
We are in touch with a couple of lawyers and hope to be holding some public meetings. The assault on property rights in Alberta just got a whole lot worse!
