It is another special day for Canadians because...

It is 11197 days since fighting ends in Vietnam. The American forces leave defeated. Over 33,000 American boy's lives were wasted to counter a threat that wasn’t there.

It is 674 days since Enron collapsed after the company’s deceitful accounting practices became public. Enron is followed by Worldcom and K-Mart leaving the U.S. economy reeling.

It is 4388 days since Canada was voted by the United Nations to be the best place in the world in which to live. Canada wins this title for the next straight 6 years.

It is 3287 days since a Canadian, James Gosling, invented Java programing language. It is 129 years since another Canadian, Henry Wood, patents the electric light bulb and sell the patent to Thomas Edison.

It is 573 and 574 days since the Canadian National Mens and Womens hockey teams kick American butt at the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Most of all it is a special day for Canadians because when woke up this morning they could look around and take pride in the fact that they weren’t Americans.

Maybe if our American neighbours remembered what a special day it is they would be more humble.

rsomer is typical of the mental condition that most Canadian beef producers are suffering from. I have no disagreement with his assessment of the USA. I know that it is true. I am trying to change things down here.
At first glance the posting he made about all of the days, appeals to the Canadians reading this forum. He has been complimented several times by the readers of this forum. However the comments made in this posting reveal the sadly stupid nature of the Canadian people in general.
These are the same comments that we Americans hear from your government leaders, from your press and business leaders. It is a great way to get votes and sell papers.
I think back to the cold war when it was capitalism and freedom against communism and slavery. Russia was our bitter enemy and China was not about to buy anything from us.
Trudeau could make left wing, sour comments about the USA and cozy up to the communists and you guys would sell all kinds of wheat at world prices to communist nations.
Great for you. Bad for us. The American farmers really struggeled during that time.
But that was the past and the pendulum is swinging the other way.

Now world governments are moving to the right, while Canada is still moving to the left. Military might and alliances are factors now in international trade.
You cannot afford to do this (lip off the USA) any longer.
Regarding rsomers comments. We well remember, check me on this Ambassador Ken Taylor who helped us in Iran. It is good to mention that. It has not been forgotten. rsomer forgot to mention the help we received from Canadians on Sept 11, when our planes were able to land in your county and be safe. He forgot to mention the help we received from Canada in Desert Storm and the large number of brave Canadian soldiers helping us in Afghanistan.

These are good things to mention.
He (rsome) chose rather to defend his countries honor by running us down.
Thats great, if you can afford it. The negative comments made by rsomer would have been appropriate if he were Germany for instance that is a now a stable economic country and is not dependant on exports of it produce. The county of Japan would not speak like this. What good does it do to speak out against the customer whose money you need?
While it may make you feel good, (to shoot your mouth off) a country with a real business focus would bite its lip like so many of you readers have been doing and say nothing unless it was positive towards your customer.
This is not very much fun, but that is the way it is.
If rsomer were a government representative in Japan, he would be instantly removed from the government.
Japan can not afford to madden their neighbours. When Canada gets to be powerful again, and not dependant on exports, then go ahead, shoot your mouth off.

With your huge resources and good work ethic, Canada could have it all. You could easily be the wealthiest nation in the world. What a shame you are wasting it all. If Japan had what you have they would be the most powerful and influential nation in the world.
It does not make me feel good to say that Canadians are studid, but that is the way it seems to be, and rsomer is at the top of the list.

Maybe you Canadians would like to see what American farmers think of NAFTA
Check out this website and enter canada in the search box. Some interesting links will appear.

Canadians would do well to see how other nations are prospering and do likewise. The economic crunch that you are are feeling becuase of BSE is nothing.
Just think what would happen if other industries were hit. At the present time other Canadians have the money to support your products a little bit. They would not if there industry was hurt too. They would not have the money.
I have mentioned elsewhere that Canadian farmers could make up for their lack of numbers by donating large amounts of money to lobby efforts. The reply I got back was it would not make any difference.
I thought about that. Here in the USA we are so concerned about large corporations donating large amounts of money to political parties. The corporations do this to protect their interests. This will work in Canada too.. I know you Canadians do not like to admit that you are subidized. but if you each took $1000 of the money you receive from direct Government payments and put this to lobbying, you could really have an impact, it would not matter which government was in power. Well I am spending too much time at this. Time to retire. In closing I would like to say how much I respect the Canadians for the way they have helped us Americans in the past. I personally spend as much up there as I can. I am never shy about buying something on the interent from a Canadian.
This will be my last post and comment that I make before your BSE crisis is over and you are once again shipping live cattle into the USA.
I really do not have anything more to add other than I hope things work out for all of you nice folks. I do separate Western Canadians from their government. You have a right to be proud of your wonderful country which can be a great country again. Dont sit on your political laurels. Get actively involved. There are always things that can be done. Believe me money goes a long way in effective lobbying.
It is so hard to explain why God is important in our lives, families and governments, but I feel that leaving God out of things has hurt us. We all need to do better in this area.

I would once again like to express my deepest regards for Canadians as individuals. The interest and concern that I have shown about your BSE situation is more than most of my countrymen have done.
              God Loves Canada
Dont turn your backs on Him. He will pull you through this. My wife and I pray for you beef producers often and we do care. For those that took offense at my misplaced and clumsy efforts at communication, I am sorry for the offense.Lets hope this is over soon.

                  Ted:

Just so you know, I am not anti American just pro Canadian. My wife is an American, my children have a birthright to American citizenship. In WW2, my fathers RCAF fighter squadron was the first foreign force to ever serve in a defensive role on American soil. This was in the Pacific. My wife’s family have either all served or are serving in the American armed forces. My brother in law served in the U.S. Navy where he was awarded Seaman of the Quarter. Her sister’s entire family are presently enlisted in the American forces, one in each of the Army, Navy, Air Force, National Guard. We are very concerned about these family members and their safety.

Pro 16:7 When a man's ways please Jehovah, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.
Psa 119:165 Great peace is to those who love your law, and there is no stumbling block for him.
                    Is this clear?

Ted, thanks for the rebuke. We've had it coming.

It is our prayer here that your country will do the Christian thing and look beyond our faults...and see our need.
