At least we Canadians have the brains to invest in our multiculturism and people rather then waste the same amount of funds on trying to chase down people on the other spectrum and end of the world. How big is the USA's debt in Iraq at this point? Don't you think you should try and invest that money into your own cattle industry before your own case of BSE inevitably pops up?

This is one topic choice I am not going to get into except to say that everything that was said is true. It may be a little strong but each one of you are not as far off about each other as you may think.

GodLovesTheUSA - I just read through your 2 topic dialogs. I agree with most of what you say. God has blessed North America because of our God fearing based beginning. But I think you're living in a glass house to point such fingers at Canada for having slipped so bad and I take offence to that. I seem to remember a few years ago a President that really didn't know when he was telling the truth either, nor did he place in very high regard the role of leadership at his level. I also seem to remember a court case on the south side of the border between ROE & Wade that started the most hideous landslide crime of all times in the reckless slaughter of innocent babies.
Yes I might remind you that scripture is clear about the fact that when innocent blood is spilt on the ground the ground will “cry out for recompense”, and it WILL (guaranteed) be paid back. And there is only one that knows if your tragic 911 isn’t the result of God’s hand being removed from America.
The bottom line problem in your country and ours is that there is no consensus as to the fact that there really is a moral absolute. And there is one thing I can guarantee that those pilots that did that dastardly thing on 911 knew 1 split second after they hit the tower that there is and always will be a moral absolute no matter what or how we want to define marriage or anything else.
And you are right God does love America and He does love Canada but He HATES the direction we are going, and that has brought separation between man and our creator, and only by repenting from our selfish sinful ways and leaning on the bridge between us and God which is Jesus Christ will there ever be any hope for our downward spiralling demise.

Holy Smoke! I was away a couple of days, and boy did I miss some action.

As for the America/Canada situation. I just finished watching "Bowling for Columbine" last night. I recommend it...now hear me out. I know Michael Moore is not the poster boy for most gun owners, but I still think it should be looked at.

This film - on the surface is about guns and gun control, but by the time it is done, digs into a lot of cultural differences that show up between our two countries, and between the States and most other countries in the world.

One of the main differences that of general attitude. There is an "us against the world, everyone is out to get us" attitude prevalent down there. A society based on fear of attack, from the first Pilgrims meeting the first Natives, right up to today. This carries down to everyday people on the street. Defense seems to be the cornerstone of the whole society, from international policy down to protecting the family home from burglers. The whole society is inundated with news and media reporting that is mainly consisted with warnings of danger of all kind. Watch CNN for a while, and pay attention, disaster is good for business. After a lifetime of this, who could help being defensive?

It was quite an eye-opener, and made me proud to be a Canadian. Far better to live in a country where understanding and discussion are the main focus, than one where the prime directive is "watch your back, everyone's out to get you". We may have our flaws, but we are basically a very humane society.

That's my rant for the day.

A footnote. With the gay marriage thing, I think it all boils down to the basic fact of whether you believe people are "born" gay or not.

My belief is that maybe, just maybe, God made "different" people for a reason, and that reason is to judge the rest of us by the way we treat them.

I am personally wary of people who say they "know" what God wants.

                End of rant.

Kato, they certainly are not BORN gay! We have all seen and heard of ex. gay's. But have you ever heard of an ex native or ex white man or ex black man?
No ...there life style is a decision. A choice.

kato - I don't think I was saying I "know" what God wants. However it's not hard for you to find out what He said, He wrote you (Kato) a letter to let you know what He wants. Try reading it.
