Anyone know what this herd registration thing in Alberta is all about? It would seem it has something to do with money but I'm not sure of all the details.
If Alberta gets out the checkbook will the other provinces follow? Will they be able to?
Is this really a good thing? Isn't it sort of buying market share? Shouldn't this really be a national program? I suspect Alberta has gotten sick of waiting for the feds to do anything and has decided to go it alone before our industry is completely ruined.
If Alberta subsidizes the cow/calf sector what will that do to the producer in Sask. and Man.? Ontario and Quebec can afford to go along but it seems Sask. can't afford to and Man. is always pleading poverty. Are producers there going to be thrown to the wolves?
