Calf prices

Interesting to read the TEAM sale report from yesterday showing Lakeside buying 550lb calves at $132 - how high are they anticipating fats being next spring? 500lb calves made up to $136 so what happened to the rumour that calves were going to be $50 by late fall?

Now those are pretty decent prices! However 500 lb. X $1.36 = $680, and I guess that means that cow probably paid for her feed last winter and maybe even part of her pasture this summer. If her calf was a heifer we can assume about $60 to $80 less, so sure hope they all had bulls.
It would be nice if she could have helped pay for the interest and depreciation on herself, or thrown in a few bucks for her boyfriend and healthcare, but we should be grateful that at least she can pay the feed bill.
