        Value Chain FX. If you're not View Trak and you have sooo much to offer - put it on the table.

          I am presently working with the Alberta Value Chain Cooperative. This group has been spearheading a producer (grass roots) movement to develop a New Generation Cooperative that aligns itself with the Value Chain concepts.

          I have several times put the web page of the Alberta Value Chain cooperative on this site!

          It is ;

          http://www.angelfire.com/folk/valuechain/

          This group has worked hard and not followed the "standard Cooperative package" they have been diligent in sorting out many of the producer business model challenges in developing their business structure.

          At the moment they are looking at developing a Canadian Cooperative so national standards could be utilized by producers that would choose to follow them. They are also working with marketers from around the world to develop a marketing consortium. There are discussions ongoing to clarify partnerships with an EU lab for testing (especially BSE and CWD) The plant is planned to be both Federal and EU and a partnership with a county has them on board to assist in developing a training facility with research and development capacity. Producer shares in this are growing very fast and although I am not involved directly with the shares I believe since the first of this month there is probably close to 500 shares sold and probably in the area of 100 producers involved. (not sure of those numbers) but know that there will only be 6000 shares sold in this round.

          We have sure had our skeptics out there but I do believe the land for the facility is there the will of the county to provide infrastructure is there, many of the past skeptical producers are now buying into the program even some from outside the province (sask and BC (maybe Manitoba)

          They have had little government support to get to where they are today, in fact my thoughts are the government is not going to save anyone! As a grass roots producer you are going to have to save yourself. Certain government programs are being applied for as we would never turn down cash, but while they do there studies with the "book experts" the hands on make it happen folks are making it happen.

          These producers want to survive and the Alberta Value Chain Cooperative have done everything they can to limit the risk and remain flexible to cover any challenges that have been noticeable short falls in the past system.

          Positive suggestions will always be taken, skeptics are always allowed to sit on the fence and trust me we have seen the skeptics, but the reality is the work the AVCC has done to date will make this happen sooner rather than later!
