Now I'm not really up on this new scheme the federal government came up with where they give you $159/cow slaughtered. Apparently the packers promptly lowered the price of cows to get the money going to the farmer...so what else is new?
Now VanClief is outraged and is going to scrap the program! When are they going to get it? We can not eat our way out of this problem!Our various governments have dithered and wrung their hands and hoped for a miracle. Well I hate to tell them, there is no miracle coming down the pipes!
Test the damned cows or put them in the pit. Those are the only viable options!
If they had got off their duffs and either dug pits or got some of the old mothballed plants up and running we would be well on the way to solving this problem!
Get a meaningful compensation package in place and get those cows killed! Realize we are in a dirty trade war and come out swinging.
