We have made countless phone calls to various levels and have found they understand our plight but, only to hear in return the program doesn't work. Count me in on this. The fact they offer the refund means they are trying to wipe their hands of this legally. It's obvious the spring soil moisture data is incorrect and this is where I want answers. We deserve answers!

Were trying to get 200 names. So if you know of anybody that took out drought insurance from red deer south pass the word on and we will have all the data needed to get together to present our case and we have a very good case against them so far.I talked to two of the three people that had the meeting with the gov. and there willing to make all there data public where the gov. has already accepted cause it came right from environment canada. In fact the bottom line numbers on your statement of loss is the numbers that this group gave to the gov.Which was different than what the gov. had, so they are already using our numbers. When we find that we figure we have enough people we will start getting some meetings together.PASS THE WORD ON TO ANYBODY THAT TOOK OUT LACK OF MOISTURE INSURANCE.

Hey I'm in - I am so frustrated with AFSC I could scream. What if you insured your house, it burnt down and then the insurance company said "our ins doesn't work right so sign here that you won't sue us and we will refund you your premium. Oh ya sorry abt the house - promise we won't insure it again."
What we need is a class action suit and a good lawyer.
Circlex - someone could phone the Jim Fisher show - that would make a lot of farmers aware. I know a lot of people in the shows listening area had this insurance.

We farm in North Eastern Alberta, where drought has been an accepted way for nearly 7 years. This year we were blessed with what many of us considered "lots" of moisture! It did not nearly bring the levels of moisture up to what it should be, but it sure beat what we had. The grasshoppers flourished, as did the weeds because the drought made it impossible to spray last year due to stress on the plants! No insurance paid out at my house! Barley prices were 1/2 of what they were last fall, which meant you had to harvest 2 times as much in order to net the same income!
My question to you, is: What about the Federal and Provincial Governments share of our drought premiums? It has already been announced how much money our government sinks into the farmers pockets with subsidies! These matching premiums fall into the category of "subsidies already received". Are we not entitled to that part of our premium, which was clearly allocated to us as "subsidies"? We should all be getting 3 times our original premium back! Or am I looking at AFSC through "Rose coloured glasses"?

I'm feeling the same as all on this topic. I thought that last comment about gov't share of premium was a fantastic point. With my premium being well over 6000$ for pasture ins, I wish I could have held out, but this cash crunch is hitting hard and I had to bail and bow down to take any chance for money. Sorry guys, but my hope rests with you. My barley proxy silage insurance is going to wok me over even harder since I seeded on the later side.
