    Hay prices?

The other day I was pulling one of the neighbors out of the ditch. She had some pretty decent looking hay bales in the back of her truck. When I asked her what they cost she said $2.75 delivered in the yard...which I thought was pretty cheap! Apparently the exporters are being very tough on the hay boys this year, rejecting anything that isn't right up to snuff. So there is a lot of pretty good timothy looking for a home.
How are the hay prices in your area and how is the supply?

Looks like 50 to 60 $ a ton around here. A few are asking more but I see they still have it to. That's for round bales. sguares are 1.00 to 3.00 a bale depending upon size and quality.
I bought some large round straw bales(wheat) the other day for $10.00 a bale loaded.

Sales have been real slow since the end of July. Sold a load last week for $42 per bale, or about $80 per ton.

In the last two weeks we loaded out four semi loads of grass hay and three loads of green feed. The grass sold for 65.00 in the yard and went to a ranch SW of Calgary. The green feed went to Montana and sold for 65.00 US dollars delivered.
