What will happen? Will their markets crash and burn like ours did? On Dec. 24th the futures dropped the limit in about ten minutes. When the market in Chicago opens what will happen?
If their market crashes does this mean now we have no hope in getting a decent price for our cull cattle? Is that 20cent/lb. for culls pretty well the norm from here on in? Or maybe lower?
I hear a lot of talk of how the market will adjust to the new realities of the cattle business. Now I assume this means that now we have to figure that 1300 lb. cow is worth $260 instead of $650 or a drop of $390 in her salvage value. Add a cost of $50 onto each calf? At what point does it become unprofitable? At what point does the "reality of the market" become totally insane?
This year a whole lot of cows stayed home on the farm. How long can we keep these old girls? We actually need our governments(US is in it now too) to do something, and fairly soon? All the governments programs just bought them some time but never solved anything?
Now at least with the USA on side maybe a solution is possible.
