There are probably millions of animal in the US with CDN birth certifigates. We've imported 100,000's head here. SO WHAT does 1 -DNA test prove that we sent them BSE. I don't think so.

Maybe I'm just a dumbie or something but I just don't get how this DNA test was so conclusive. I mean we have the Washington cow so we have her DNA. We have the sires DNA, so I assume he was an AI bull, apparently an American bull. Most of these dairy bulls are used extensively just about everywhere in the world. I would imagine he has many daughters in the USA? We hear nothing about the dam of this Washington cow, so we assume she is long gone and no DNA available?
I'm not disputing the fact that she was a Canadian cow. I just don't see how this DNA test proved anything? It proved she was sired by an American AI bull and nothing more? Am I missing something here?

With regard to the DNA testing, cowman, I think I heard that they have a daughter here in Canada. They would have matched the cow with her daughter or other maternal relatives. I agree, as I posted earlier, that the AI sire DNA would have been of little value as probably 1/16th of all holsteins would be related. You will notice the official results said something like, 'to a high degree of accuracy'.
