Reading the USDA press-conference from yesterday "http://www.usda.gov/news/releases/2004/01/0006.htm" it's obvious they haven't got a clue about finding the Canadian cattle in Washington. The 4000 head are not being culled as they have narrowed the "at risk" animals down to 258. If the numbers quoted are correct they have only actually traced around 20 of the 81 animals. 19 animals are "missing" (ie there is no record of them being culled from the farm or any record of them being still on the farm) This must instill much confidence in their tracking system with the Japanese delegation.
With this degree of incompetence it's funny they were so sure the one cow was Canadian.
