Gee, I wonder if the Merkins have a bad case of "Don't look, Don't find"?????

Three head tested out of 1/4 million dairy cows slaughtered.

What happened to the 146 cows from the Washington dairy farm that were slaughtered earlier this week? Supposedly they were fed the same feed as the infected cow so the USDA had them killed. Now I thought the idea was to test them all but I've heard no more about that. I hope they just never got shot and buried in a landfill...like the 450 bull calves. If they weren't tested I would definitely call that shoot, shovel and shutup!

USDA reported yesterday that they are continuing to depopulate the 130 cows in the index herd which involves slaughtering and testing the brains. So far they can positively identify only 13 of the 81 Canadian cows in addition to the BSE positive cow. They suspect they know where 7 more are.
Come on guys this is not very good - nearly three weeks later and you still haven't a clue where 75% of the shipment has gone. That is a lot worse than Canadian authorities managed to come up with here in May in a similar timescale.

I have to agree with you guys that we down here in the states got caught with our pants down. I think this is a good wakeup call for the US- consumers, politicians and many ranchers. Many are finally realizing that the packers, NCBA and the USDA have been sleeping in the same bed for years. Don't look- Don't find theory.
My biggest fear now is that the US Congress doesn't overreact like it usually does.
