Cow-patty. If you've got the determination to wanna be after the last couple years you'll probably find a way to do it. I'm looking the other way, how much time is involved to farm another section of land compared to what is involved in grossing that many dollars in calves. Wanna buy a bunch of cows? I know, I'll still have cows when I die.

Cow patty: Start out small and learn as you go along. Even a few cows can teach you a whole lot about what it takes. My best advice would be get gentle trouble free cattle. Good feet, good udders, good hair. Don't try for the max right out the chute! No big tough exotic bulls right off the bat! Make your first experiences good ones!

        Thanks for the advice..
Im starting small , and lucky enough to have outside work . My heart goes out to the young farm families, struggling to make ends meet.Im doing my best to let everyone I know in the north country how little of the money
they pay for a steak that the farmer truly gets..anyway , Ive been nosing around this site for about a year..have got a ton of interesting info ..and at my farm So far 3 calves have hit the ground ..lol, and Im expecting 10 more..

Cowpatty- A bit more advice. Don't borrow a lot of money. Let the cows pay their own way. No sense working yourself to death for a bunch of cows. Take advantage of the tax breaks you can get by being a farmer.
