After watching my bred heifers sticking their heads through corral panels trying to steal 4h calves grain I had a thought. We've been feeding the grass cattle big squares out on the ground but wasteing a fair bit(a mouthful is too much for this scot).Anyway I took two ten foot and two twelve foot-Two W lemsco panels and just made a square with them. They work just great-the calves can't lift heads to pull feed out and they collapse into a diamond shape as they clean hay up. I was soo sick of calves climbing into round bale feeders. I'd guess these would work good up to 1,000 pound animals.

Heres another idea for a "cheap feeder".
We had the need to pen up a small group of calves and needed another feeder to hold a few bales of hays while they were there. We took a 16' hog panel that was 32" high.
We chained each end to the corral in a semi circle. This feeder has also worked for our horses. Not fancy, but effective for a small pen.
