I should add, this article has been in circulation, but I understand that is has been pulled from some websites. It is still alive and well here if you have not yet had the chance to read it.

Don't worry, if you were to look around the world for the biggest cynics in existence, you'd find them right here, raising cattle in Canada.

It's going to take more than fancy talk to impress us.

For Sure our focus has to be one developing a new and improved Canadian Agricultural industry. We have become too dependant on the US and the Japanese for our exports of commodities. The Japanese pressure us on a top quality product without necessarily providing us with a premium for their demands. The Americans have grown their value added industries on a reliable supply of cheap commodity products from Canada.

MAYBE its time that we tell the ADM's, Cargill's and Tysons, the John Deere's and Budweisers that Canada is going to develope our own industries, and shut the door down to imported goods, unless we choose not to produce our own. Whatever happened to the Go Getters that Canada use to have? The ones that made farm equipment, and produced the goods that everyone around the world look to US for?

We need some politicians that can get this country going, instead of letting the rest of the world tell us when, and how high to jump.

Just another note about the politicians.... wht have so many of our so called Agricultural leaders in Manitoba choosen to run under the Liberal Ticket?

I think we all need to realize that when we signed NAFTA things changed forever in this country? And make no mistake NAFTA was very good for Canada and the west in particular! The fact is we started to move towards an integrated North American economy? And eventually what will happen is products will be grown or produced where it makes the most sense? Right now we are sort of caught in this system where we still have three national governments that aren't really with the program? The US government, especially, doesn't really get it? But that doesn't mean Canada is lily white either. Maybe eventually we should be moving towards a new country? Maybe we could call it the united states of North America or something? Harmonize our currency, our environmental goals, our political systems and our laws? Maybe they would toughen us up a bit and we could give them some sort of sense of dealing decently with the world and human beings? Could be a very good marriage? Hopefully the best of both rather than the worst?

Cowman- Could we leave out California, New York, Ontario and Quebec? Then it might work just fine.
